Preventing 'Duck-Walk' in old age

July 25, 2023 (IANSlife) As individuals age, a condition known as 'Duck-Walk' or waddling gait can occur due to knee malalignment caused by osteoarthritis. This condition often leads to individuals walking with a distinctive gait resembling that of a duck. However, in the early stages of osteoarthritis, there are conservative methods that individuals can employ to prevent or delay the progression to an advanced stage.

A Comparative Study Of Surgical And Functional Outcomes In Patients Treated With Intramedullary Nailing And Plating For Mid-Shaft Clavicular Fractures

Traditionally, mid-shaft clavicular fractures were treated non-operatively; however, they have been associated with higher non-union rates and poor functional outcomes in certain types of fractures. We aimed to objectively compare the surgical outcomes in patients with mid-shaft clavicular fracture treated either with nailing or plating and assess their functional outcomes over a follow up period of one year.

Reamed Intramedullary Exchange Nailing for Aseptic Non-Union of Isthmus and Enhanced Distal Fixation Exchange Nailing for Non- Union of Distal Third Shaft Femur Fractures

The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of exchange nailing in isthmus and exchange nailing with poller screw fixation and multiplanar interlocking screws for Distal Third shaft femur aseptic non-union.

Intraoperative fractures in Primary Total Knee Replacement

Intraoperative fracture during primary Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is very rare and there is little literature available which has defined the possible reasons for the occurrence of these fractures. Further, no study till date has defined the various management options available to treat these fractures.

Symptomatic medial humeral epicondylar fracture non-union- rare presentation of a relatively common injury

Symptomatic non-union of medial humeral epicondylar fractures is a limited entity. Some studies recommend surgical excision of the fragment, but the results are controversial. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcome of open reduction and internal fixation of a medial epicondyle non-union fragment.

Functional and radiological evaluation of primary total hip arthroplasty in less than 50 years old- A retrospective evaluation

Performing primary Total Hip Arthroplasty in young is challenging. The increased physical demands predisposes them to early wear, osteolysis and subsequent loss of fixation. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the radiological and functional outcome of uncemented and hybrid Total hip arthroplasty with different bearings, in patient less than 50 years of age.

Tuberculosis (T.B.) masquerading as tumor. An 8-year study on 25 cases of long bone tuberculosis presenting as tumors

To highlight radiological features and emphasize the need for tissue diagnoses to confirm bone pathology. Tuberculosis is known to present without constitutional symptoms and with unconventional imaging features mimicking sarcomas as shown in our series of 25 patients; where the imaging and biopsy protocols at our institute helped to solve these diagnostic dilemmas. Material and methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical and radiological features and tissue diagnoses in 25 patients referred to the department of orthopedic oncology with radiological suspicion of tumor
