Factors affecting mortality in nonagenarian population following surgery for fragility hip fractures: an experience from a tertiary level trauma centre in India. Journal of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics.

Fragility hip fractures in nonagenarian patients pose a great challenge in management. To the best of our knowledge, no study has previously evaluated the outcomes and risk factors for mortality after hip fractures in this subgroup of population from the Indian subcontinent.

Intracapsular fracture of the proximal femur in a bilateral above-knee amputee: A case report with technical tips for intraoperative positioning and literature review

Intracapsular fractures of the proximal femur are one of the most common fractures of the lower limbs. Most cases require osteosynthesis with suitable implants, and intraoperative positioning of the patient on the fracture table is a prerequisite to facilitate fracture manipulation, traction, reduction and fluo- roscopy assessment.

Bipolar clavicular dislocation treated with biological anatomical repair and reconstruction: A case report with a literature review of management options

Bipolar clavicular dislocation is rare and uncommon. It was firstly described by Porral in 1831 as double dislocation of the clavicle, and further reported by various names in literature, such as traumatic floating 2,3 4 5 clavicle , simultaneous dislocation of both ends of the clavicle , bifocal or pan-clavicular dislocation and 6,7 bipolar clavicular dislocation . These names have been used randomly by different authors over time and all of them essentially mean the same i.e. simultaneous dislocation of acromioclavicular (AC) joint and sternoclavicular (SC) joint with intact clavicle (no fracture) following trauma.

Morphometric Variations of Scaphoid and Safety of Screw Fixation for Its Waist Zone Fractures in Indian Population: A Preliminary Report

Surgeons fixing scaphoid fractures need to be familiar with their morphological variations and their implications for safe screw placement during fixation. The purpose of this computed tomography (CT)-based study was to analyze the anatomical limits of safe screw placement for scaphoid waist fractures in the Indian population.

PAEDIATRIC FEMORAL SHAFT FRACTURES MANAGED WITH TENS

Femoral shaft fractures are one of the most common pediatric injuries representing around 2% of all fractures in the pediatric age group (Loder et al., 2006). The management options depends upon the age, type of injury, associated injuries, the location, type of the fracture and the socioeconomic status of the patient.

Tubercular Tenosynovitis of Hand: A Rare Presentation

Tuberculosis tenosynovitis of the wrist and hand is an unusual condition. It mimics a number of other clinical conditions such as ganglion, De quervan’s disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, granulomatous gout, neurofibroma, and haemangioma.

Comparative analysis of arthroscopic debridement in osseous versus soft tissue anterior ankle impingement

Arthroscopic debridement has been a gold standard procedure for anterior ankle impingement, both in cases of osseous and soft tissue impingement. There is sparse literature on comparative outcome with respect to functional results between the two types of impingement post-arthroscopic debridement.

Recurrent Patellar Instabilty Culminating in a Vertically Rotated and a Locked Patellar Dislocation - A Rare Entity

Locked vertical patellar dislocations are rare and pose a therapeutic challenge. This case is more unusual, as the patient was a known case of recurrent patellar dislocation and presented with an atraumatic locked and vertically rotated patellar dislocation. This type of presentation has never been reported in literature to the best of our knowledge.

RESULTS OF INTERTROCHANTERIC FRACTURES FIXED WITH DYNAMIC HIP SCREW FIXATION

Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly people, usually due to trivial trauma like simple falls. The incidence of the senile hip fractures has been rising due to increase in the aging population in most parts of world.

Avoiding malalignment in proximal femur fractures treated with newer generation cephalomedullary nails: Some technical tips

Three techniques to avoid malalignment in proximal femoral fractures managed with cephalomedullary nails, have been described. Issues related to rotational mismatch at fracture site, central placement of lag screw in femoral head neck fragment and limb rotation restoration have been addressed.

Technical tip for removal of broken cephalomedullary reamer tip in cases of proximal femoral nailing

Instrumentation breakage around hip joint can pose a challenging situation considering its vicinity to several vital structures. Broken fragments carry the risk of migration and thus should be removed as early as possible.
